| Well this looks interesting. http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=31175 - Quote :
- When Christoph Waltz took the role as the psychotic wife beater in WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, he had to drop out of the role of Sigmund Freud for David Cronenberg's THE TALKING CURE.
Waltz's departure left the producers in a rush for a replacement. Well, they found it in Viggo Mortensen.
Before they locked Mortensen, they were scared production on the film would be closed indefinitely. One of the filmmakers told Deadline, "You'd have thought Waltz wouldn't want to be typecast as a sadist." Mortensen was apparently more than happy to take the role, since he and Cronenberg had worked so well together on EASTERN PROMISES.
I am glad Viggo is taking the role but I will wonder from time to time what Waltz would have been like -- he was 'delicious' as the Jew hunter in Inglorious Basterds. | |

| The role of Freud will be a good challenge. After the movie, could we see Viggo starting a new profession and inviting people to his couch for treatment? I think I am starting to feel a neurosis coming on already. Or maybe an obsessive compulsive disorder. | |

| It seems they are busy making the film in Germany right now. Do we have some "reporters"(fans) in Germany? Have you seen/heard something about it recently? | |
