| I found that this short quote from Viggo resonates more about the whole awards thing rather than the hype. - Quote :
- Very Viggo
Nervous? Viggo? Nah. "I never count my chickens before they're hatched," says best actor nominee Viggo Mortensen, who got the nod for his role in "Eastern Promises." "Obviously, a statue would be an honor, but I'm not a huge fan of competition in art. As an actor, you just do the best job you can do. But it's nice to be recognized by one's peers." | In a interview I have he says this to the reporter in the end of th"e interview: - Quote :
- - Jeg er realistisk. Jeg ved godt, at jeg er bookmakernes favorit til at blive siddende gennem hele ceremonien, joker han.
= "I'm realistic. I know very well that I'm the bookmakers favourite to remain sitting during all the ceremony, he jokes".He thinks he'll be a wallflower (in Danish = "baenkevarmer" - benchwarmer). | |

| Viggo a wallflower? He's really gotta get past this 'prom' thing. Not in seven lifetimes could he be a wallflower. I watched the whole awards show - (please don't tell my friends ) and he looked smart, classy and a real gent in particular with his niece. Ok so he looked gorgeous. Two memorable things from last night that really caught me was Jon Stewart saying that while the telecast was on commercial break we sit around making catty remarks about the outfits you're wearing at home. and Helen Mirren's comment on 'cojones' -- I loved it. |

| I am not sure, Aithne. But the Canadian Genies are up this weekend. Now another Very Viggo moment... Quotes from the 2008 Oscars lists this one. - Quote :
- "I like her." Viggo Mortensen on why he chose to take his teenage niece Sidney to the Oscars as his date after a family death forced director pal David Cronenberg to pull out of hitting the red carpet with the actor.
On the other hand maybe it goes without saying that he was trying to enjoy the Oscars from her perspective. Feel the magic so to speak, eh? |
