Tilda Swinton has praised the Baftas for giving stars a chance to meet their fans.
The actress, who was nominated for best supporting actress for her role alongside George Clooney in Michael Clayton, said she was "really excited" to be at the glamorous ceremony.
The flame-haired 47-year-old said: "This is what it's all about. For all of us this is the only time we get to meet fans and it's really important to get to meet these people because we're all fans together."
She added that she thought Michael Clayton was a really important film, saying: "I'm really proud of the film and it will encourage studios to do more."
Best actor nominee Viggo Mortensen was simply overwhelmed by the crowds outside the Royal Opera House.
The bearded 49-year-old admitted: "It's really overwhelming. Much more crowded than I thought it was going to be."

| "We are all film fans."  What a remarkable thing to say. Those of us on the outside of their world often do not see our celebrities as fans themselves. Viggo looks exceptionally stunning in that suit. Thanks for all the pics everyone has been posting and for bringing a piece of his world to VH.  |

| I don't know, Vigs. Can he?  I think he's aging nicely, very attractive and these days with soooo much style. I remember years ago one site just having a bit of a tither over some of his 'yuppie' pics in Vanity Fair. Wow they came down hard on him or at least the photographer who made him take those 'yuppie scum' pics. I thought he looked great. Not only is he aging nicely, he's maturing nicely too. Hope we his fans go there with him. It is time.  |
