| Can this be true? - Quote :
- Our source says, “Stallone has recently met with Viggo Mortensen and has offered him the role of Edgar Allan Poe in the film. Mortensen is consdiering the role although he wants some slight revisions in the script.” Yep, Viggo Mortensen could end up doing drugs and quothing the Raven for Sly. How cool is that notion?

| Geez I thought about Viggo doing this before going to bed last night. No, I do not see him as Poe. Harder to imagine Stallone doing it. Oh well it is still a rumour that is all. |

| I think for the time being it's just a rumour. I saw it, too, in another fan site. I think Viggo can't be all places at the same time. And there are also other good actors. They will be unemployed if Viggo gets all the good parts. I rather think poor Viggo needs a break in movie making. If he wants to make a painting exhibition in Denmark next year he has to be busy to paint new paintings for the exhibition. And he works so hard that I'm afraid that he gets stressed or perhaps gets a bad sickness. No one can work very hard all his/her life without being stressed or get ill. So Viggo has to take very much more care of himself!!! Else it will end in a wrong way!

| From the range of the movies Stallone has done I just don't seem him as someone interested in poetry or a poet the calibre of EA Poe. And for some reason, I just cannot put my finger on why Viggo might not be the best. Poe wrote a range of things, he was brilliant, dark, macabre even yet also romantic. I think he was very tormented. I just don't see Viggo in that kind of depth. But I would be happy to be proven wrong. |

Maybe not this time dearheart! I think maybe he could play a poet but not this one. He would have to go too deep. I think it would be too much for him. |

| Who do you think could play the part, Kal? I'm trying to think of another actor who could play it. There are so many good ones. | |

| I think Poe was young when he died. So the actor would have to be not so old. Viggo could play the age okay I think. Maybe Edward Norton. Or maybe Eric Bana. Although Christian Bale is another one. There are many good actors even if Viggo is one of the best. |

| Wow that last post really freaked me out a bit. I guess this was before we learned of Heath Ledger's death. Eeery almost. I like to google news on Viggo and post here when I can and I find it odd that Viggo is still rumored to play EA Poe. Is this true? Do we know once and for all? | |

| Yes, it's strange, Aithne! When we wrote that we didn't know that Heath Ledger would die.
So we/they better find another person for the Edgar Allan Poe part. I don't know if Viggo is still "in talk" to the part.

| Yes young Mr. Ledger died in February. That is freaky to come across this post isn't it? I don't think Viggo is planning to do this. I read that it is just that - a rumour. |

| I'd like to see him take on the role of a famous poet though. Dante maybe? Neruda? Lorca? |

I dion't think it is true. Viggo writes poetry, which means he loves it. Why not perform Poe?

| Don't anyone me as I know we're all glad to have him back clean shaven but wouldn't he make a great D.H. Lawrence? Lawrence wrote poems and novels, plays and was even a painter. He sure didn't seem to be self-limiting like certain people we know. I think Viggo would be perfect to play Lawrence. | |
