My meeting with Viggo October 18th 2008.

I will post my report here as I don't want to have it out where all non-members can read it, too. I think it's my private meeting so I will ask you not to post it somewhere else, thanks! I will do the posting myself where I feel it is suitable to post it.

I stood in the queue at the museum for around 1 hour. Viggo arrived and I took a pic of him and Aunt Tulle - and later the car. I was one of the persons who stood closest to the door so I was among the first who was let into the museum. I was in the first room (after the entrance) very close to the door to the room where Viggo, the mayor and the persons from the museum were together with people from the press and some audience. Unfortunately some very tall persons stood in front of me so I never got a chance to see Viggo. And in the room where I was some people kept talking so it was really difficult to hear the speeches. But I understood why some of the pics were turned upside down. Here in Denmark we say (for fun) that if we dig a very large and deep hole through the Earth we will end in China or New Zealand (and opposite) and that’s what Viggo wanted to illustrate with his pics. At last when I came into the room where Viggo should have been he had left the museum again. So I never got a chance to see him then. When I had been there for some time I went to the very long queue with my friend. When we had been there for some time Viggo and Aunt Tulle suddenly came walking from the high school back to the museum (or perhaps another museum where Viggo wanted to see another exhibition - we were told later). I had a bad pain in my right ankle of walking and standing so much still. Then I discovered that I had no more power on the batteries for my digital camera. So I had to leave the queue to go to a supermarket in the pedestrian street to buy new batteries (I had a lot of trouble with batteries with no or only a little power on). I hurried back to the queue and found my place again. And then we waited for 3½ - 4 hours before we were let into the school. And then I guess I waited around 1 hour before it was my turn to meet Viggo at around 5pm.
I went to the table, shook his hand and said something like: “Hello Viggo! I’m glad to be allowed to meet you. And of course congratulations with the day after tomorrow”. And then I gave him the book and the booklet I wanted him to sign. He asked me for my name and I told him. Then I put my gifts on the table and said something like: “Here are some stupid small things for you and some tourist information about Thy (North Jutland) because I know you like nature“. And then it wasn’t my turn anymore. Oh, I would have said a lot of more things to him. But both he and I were tired and there were still lots of people behind me waiting for an autograph from him. So I left the room with my friend. We were so hungry and tired that we needed to sit down and eat something.
I felt the meeting was too quick. I didn’t really get time to take a better look at him. But I looked a lot at him before it was my turn. Poor man! He must have felt like a monkey in a zoo with a lot of audience who stood there looking at him.

Here are a few of Viggos own pictures. That's why I haven't copyrighted them. I photographed some of the ones I liked best. Some of them looked like woven wall carpets which was photographed. I didn't photograph them. Sorry for the lamp, the windows and the people which are reflected in the pics. I couldn't photograph them in another way.


















Especially I like the last one which is one of the large pics. You see it's pink, purple, red and yellow just like some of the colours I use when I make my needlework.

Oh, I've just discovered that I forgot one of Viggos photos.

We start outside the high school where Viggo pass the large queue of people waiting to be able to meet him inside. I could have touched him! So close was he to me (a little later than this pic). Viggo and Aunt Tulle.

I'm sorry some of them are unsharp. That's because I was pushed when I took the picture.
The 2 last ones I have cut a dear friend away. She didn't want to be shown in all fan sites.
In the pic where you only see his hands and feet I was pushed, too. I took a pic of the very fine wall carpet he has made with lots of football/soccer things and pics.

And yes, he looked very tired and exhausted. I hope he has relaxed a lot in the days where he could be all alone. He needs a long holiday where he can relax and do what only he wants to do. I think his life is too busy and hectic.

I was kicked out when I tried to send this.

Last Wednesday Viggo visited Roskilde (and Denmark) for a few hours. He wanted to sign the photos which were sold at the exhibition. At the same time he agreed with the staff at the museum to let them use 7 of his photos from the exhibition in Iceland, which were sent to Roskilde by a mistake, at a new exhibition now in the museum together with photos from 22 other people.

The headline is (translated to English): Viggos christmas gift.
