Not the happiest of carols if you read the history of it but certainly one of the most beautiful. And one of my favourites I wish to share The Coventry Carol.

That is a beautiful carol. I checked the history on wikipedia. Favourite Christmas Carols Icon_eek

One that I love the very most is this one I heard as a young girl on a TV program. I never forgot it.

Oh, Chrys! I love your Christmas choir even if I don't know the hymn.

It's funny, Aithne! At once when I saw David Bovie and Bing Crossby I thought: The little drummer boy. And yes it was the song I thought about. I have loved it for a lot of years.

There are so many nice Christmas songs and hymns. We have a Danish female singer called Anne Linnet and she sings a song (which she has composed the music to by herself and a Danish clergyman, author and poet called Johannes Möllehave has written the text). It's called "Lille Messias" = Little Messias. It's also a quiet song like the Little drummer boy. I wish I could play it for you.

There is also a funny childrens Christmas song about a funny little mouse playing a banjo. It's called "Sören Banjomus" = Sören (his name) the banjo mouse. The man who made this song was a famous Danish singer called Otto Brandenburg (he died some years ago). It's such a song you become happy of hearing.

We have nice hymns too.

I found it in Youtube! I hope it works!

Here is Lille Messias/Little Messias sung by the composer herself, Anne Linnet.

You know the story about the Virgin Maria riding on the donkey and they found a stable where she gave birth to Jesus.

It's such a nice song and a good melody.

Otto Brandenburg and some children singing "Sören the banjo mouse":

The pixie is sleeping in the attick room while the little mice danse, sing and run away with all the good food. The cat is asleep too.

Here are 2 Danish Christmas hymns sung by the singer Kirsten Siggaard and a mixed choir. They are called "Julen har bragt velsignet bud" (= the Christmas has brought a blessed message) and "Her kommer Jesus dine små" (= Here come your small ones (children), Jesus).

I watched all of the youtoube videos Vigs I liked the second carol on the one with all the churches the best. All of the churches seem very different from the kinds I am used to mostly spires and steeples not so much like towers in the churches of Denmark. But they are beautiful too all in the snow and different levels of roofs pointing to the skies. Favourite Christmas Carols Icon_smile

The banjo mouse song was so cute and watching Santa Claus sitting on the toilet too. Favourite Christmas Carols Icon_lol The song seems familiar though. I wonder why. Favourite Christmas Carols Icon_rendeer

Thanks it was nice to spend a bit of Christmas in your country. Favourite Christmas Carols Icon_santa

Thanks Aithne!

Some Danish churches are red and some are white. Some have 1, 2 and one has 5 towers (it's situated in the town, Kalundborg). But we also have very small churches with no towers (only a scaffolding of wood where the bell hangs). Some newer churches don't look like churches and they aren't ice to look at. A few churches are round. There are 7 round churches (1 in Jutland, 1 in Funen, 1 in Zealand and 4 in the island Bornholm.

Parapapapam! (The Little Drummer Boy).
