Books we have read

Hi!

I think it's time for a thread where we can tell each other about books we have read. Perhaps recommend a good book to the rest of us. Isn't that a good idea?
If it's a book "belonging" together with a movie - please try to avoid to write about "spoilers" in here.



I have read "The road" by Cormac McCarthy twice now. And it's a really good, dramatic and touching book. I can't wait to watch the movie when it one day comes to Denmark. I'm sure Viggos part is a good part.

I have also read "Men who hates woman" by Stieg Larsson. It's also good, a little dramatic and very good written. I neither have watched the movie yet. I'm looking forward to see Lisbeth Salander. She'a a really strange person.

I have just bought book number 2: "The girl who played with fire" by Stieg Larsson. But I haven't started to read it yet as I'm now reading "Red wolf" by Liza Marklund. I don't dare to read two stories at the same time. I risk to mix the stories together so I get confused. It's funny that both Swedish stories are about newspaper reporters playing detectives. In Stieg Larssons books it's Mikael Blomkvist and in Liza Marklunds books it's Annika Bengtzon.

Do you ever read books? Don't you want to tell us about some good or exiting books?

I'm now reading the last book in Liza Marklunds series about the reporter Annika Bengtzon. It's called: En plads i solen = A place in the sun.

That is a really good and exciting series. I you have the possibility to read the books then do it. I can only recommend them.

I just finished reading Dennis Lehane's book Shutter Island. Very disturbing. But good. Anyone see the movie as I am thinking of renting it.

Wow I saw the move 'Shutter Island' a few weeks ago. It was a bit freaky. The ending just ripped my heart out.

Finished reading Browne's The Lost Symbol as part of my beach/summer reading. It was pretty good - lots of twists and turns. Not as good as Angels and Demons I thought - the ending went on forever.

I am just finishing reading Matters of the Heart by Danielle Steel....I enjoy her books for light, relaxing reading!
I am always reading LOTR trilogy...when I finish it I simply start again as it takes a long while for me to complete (I try to read a few pages each night before turning in).

I used to read Danielle Steel years ago. I picked up this same book once, read the description and thought it might be a bit too far fetched. So you recommend, huh?

Picked up The Lovely Bones the other day. Could be a trip and a half I think.

Its not one of my fav books by D Steel but I did enjoy it....strictly light reading tho - dont expect oo much!

Lovely Bones is by Alice Sebold and was adapted into a movie by none other than Peter Jackson. I didn't watch the movie yet. Many people say it's not very good but the book was good. We'll see.

I find Danielle Steel's books mostly predictable. One day she will write a book where the ominous bad lover will actually turn out to be the ominious bad lover she has based the story on. Unless she has already written one and I missed it cause I gave up on her so long ago. Wish I could come across a fairy tale ending book that appealed to me.

I have seen some of the Danielle Steele films in tv. One of the best was the one with the deaf boy and his mother who fell in love with his teacher. It was a very nice story. I like the actor playing his teacher. I don't remember his name. The boy was called Mathew.

I have just read another of Liza Marklunds books which she has written together with James Patterson: The Postcard murderers. It was really dramatic.
