| Posted on Sun, May. 11, 2008Spend an evening with master of suspense thrillersStar-TelegramParker In his first public appearance in several years, America's most lauded crafter of modern-day suspense fiction will greet fans at the Star-Telegram's "An Evening With Robert B. Parker," a free event scheduled for June 2 at Bass Hall. It's an unprecedented -- and, probably, one-time only -- opportunity to meet the man whose glittering credentials are unsurpassed in the mystery genre.Since debuting his classic series of Spenser thrillers in 1971, Parker has been recognized by critics and readers as the best of his era. In 2002, the Mystery Writers of America named him Grand Master, a designation he shares with Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen. And, besides Spenser, Parker has also created bestselling mystery series featuring protagonists Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall. But his bestsellers haven't been limited to thrillers. In 2005, his classic Western novel Appaloosa topped every national list, and its film adaptation starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger will reach theaters this fall.At the Fort Worth appearance, Parker will discuss that novel's sequel, Resolution, as well as his own long, fabled career. He'll be interviewed onstage by former Star-Telegram books editor Jeff Guinn, take questions from the audience and conclude the evening with a book signing in the Bass Hall lobby. Copies of Resolution and selected Parker backlist titles will be available for purchase.Meet Robert B. Parker ----------------------------Perhaps 'Resolution' means we will get to see Viggo reprise his role in a sequel! | |
