| We cannot let the month of February go by without recognizing that this is the month of the heart, the month of romance, roses, chocolates and love.... Might we share some posts that involve LOVE? So let's make it as loving as we want or as we wish to express. Also check out Aithne's new thread Smolder for those with access. We may even wish to send out our secret Valentines and wishes to our friend Viggo Mortensen or even love letters to anyone that make our heartlight shine. I will start with one I received from someone special not long ago. It still makes my day. |

| THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HEART
One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowed gathered and they all admired his heart, for it was perfect. There was not a mark or flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud of and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart. Suddenly, and old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not a nearly as beautiful as mine. The crowd looked at the old man's heart, it was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces have been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't quite fit. In some places there were deep gouges where hole pieces were missing. The people stared - how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought? The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears. "Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking, but I would never trade, you see every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of their heart to me. These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?" The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands The old man took his offering, placed it in his and then took a piece of his old scared heart and placed it in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect any more, but more beautiful then ever, since the love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side.

| Oh God, how nice. I love this poem. Thanks for sharing it, Kal.. Yes, as it is the month of the love. - Quote :
February is known as the Month of Love, and as most of us know, Valentine's Day is on the 14th! Flowers, candy, candlelit dinners for two... I remember when I was single, being an unromantic romantic, I did not need flowers or candy or romantic dinners, but when there was no "certain someone", then for some reason, this day can be brutal for the single person! The history of Valentine's Day is a bit shaky. The day was indeed named after Saint Valentine, though there were three of them. One story suggests that an ancient Roman Emperor, Claudius II, believed unmarried men made better soldiers, so he banned young men from marrying. Valentine, a priest, felt this was an injustice to young lovers and performed marriages in secret. When Claudius II found out about this, Valentine was ordered to death! Then, there is Cupid! He was the God of Love in Roman Mythology; his mother was Venus. There is a story where Venus was jealous of the beauty of a mortal, named Psyche. Venus sent Cupid to punish Psyche for her good looks, but Cupid fell in love with her instead. Colors are often associated with this month. Red has often been associated with sex and passion, and pink with love. Certain foods have also been known to help stimulate love within us. My Burning Heart
My heart is burning with loveAll can see this flameMy heart is pulsing with passionlike waves on an oceanmy friends have become strangersand I’m surrounded by enemiesBut I’m free as the wind no longer hurt by those who reproach meI’m at home wherever I amAnd in the room of loversI can see with closed eyes the beauty that dancesBehind the veils intoxicated with love I too dance the rhythm of this moving worldI have lost my senses in my world of lovers E.A.Poe
This here is something very dear to my heart, that I received from someone special. So I would like to share with you, my happiness that I have this friend by my side. | |

| I just love getting chocolate on Valentines or anytime. It really is the food of LOVE!! Ask the Aztecs? They thought it to be an aphrodisiac. I'll find more. Anyone see the movie Chocolat? Kaladhar and Snowy you both seem to know the value of true friendship. It's so rare these days. Your posts are both day brighteners for me. That little heart picture of the stick people is so sweet. | |

| God lord Snowy I go to work for a day and miss Cupid showering us with raining hearts! It's wonderful And yes Aithne I've heard that Montezuma himself consumed cups and cups of chocolate to keep him in good working order. Let us know what you dig up. |

| Here we don't celebrate Valentine Day - I'm not even sure when it is. Perhaps some celebrate it but is isn't common here. | |

| That imperfect heart poem is so beautiful and so true, Kal. Love is not what we have and keep for ourselves, it is what we give away. All these thoughts are beautiful. Valentine's Day is February 14th, Vigs. | |

| What a nice thread this is turning out to be. I think I will come here every now and again when life makes me feel a little jaded or a bit lackluster just for some spirit reviving. Chicken soup for the soul? Ahhh.... |

| I think it's a little strange that there are some languages I've never heard about before. I'm aware that Kannada isn't the same as Canadian English/French. It must be a local tribe language somewhere. | |
