| I don't write or paint. But I like to sit with all my yarn and knit, crochet or weave. That's my way of being creative and using a lot of colours. I am a colour loving, needlework crazy, creative yarn girl! That's not bad to say about me! I often get some ideas which I try to make with the yarn. This moment it's the 2 very special knitting ways called: "Domino knitting" and "Shadow knitting" I'm most busy with. I have "Domino" knitted 2 covers for cushions. And I have knittet some pot holders in "Shadow knitting". It's so funny! Just now I'm knitting something in "Domino knitting" which is either going to be a table mat or a kind of a shopping bag. I only knit one square at a time in 2 colours and I knit it together with other squares in other colours.

| That is nice,Vigs When I was younger,we had some needlework classes! Well they failed, for no one knew how to hold the needle! Ha,it is hard,if I must be honest! I guess I will never learn it,but it is calming for sure! | |

I think I will make a table mat of it and then later try to make a shooping bag of some other yarn.
There are as many colours in my yarn as in Viggos paint, I'm sure!!!

| Here is the link to the Danish woman, Vivian Högsbro, who travels around the world and teach people to knit Domino Knitting and Shadow Knitting.
http://www.viv.dk/English/default.htm
But take care! When you first have tried it and learned to use the technichs you'll be "bitten" of it!!!

| Hi friends!
Now I'll tell you what I'm busy with now. In the springtime I became a member of a very exciting Danish hobby and needlework site called "Rokken.dk" (= the spinning wheel). There are so many nice, friendly, helpful, clever men and women in there. We help each other as good as we can in problems about needlework, computers, good advises about other things than hobby and needlework, comforting shoulders if someone is sad about something. This moment some of us have a "knit-along" thing about knitting bags from the same recipe (they knit them very large) and afterwards they put them into the washing machinery to felt/full them (you wash the woollen things in too hot water). I wish you could see all the bags! Not 2 of them are alike. Later we will vote about which bag is the nicest. I really don't know which bag I will vote for because I like most of them very much. They also sometimes knit shawls together. If someone has a problem about the recipe the others will explain the knitting technichs for the person who has the problem.
In september we will have a competition with a Norwegian needlework site. You see we also make things to crises centres for woman who have run away from a violent husband and special rooms for people who has no place to live and where they come to get food and help. We call them "warm-rooms". We make scarfs, socs, caps, mittens etc. for them. And clothes for children and their mothers in the crises centres. It's so new for me that I've decided to become a "warm-room-knitter". You should see all the shawls, socs, bibs they are making. Some of the things are private things to themselves, their families or friends. But other things are for people who really need the warm clothes.
Some of the women also make nice cards for celebrating something in paper, some paint, some make things in tree, they sew (you name a hobby and it's in there).
This moment I'm busy because I have started a little too early to make some things for the competition with the Norwegian site. I let some of the others make the socs. I am allowed to start a little earlier than the others because I'm not a fast knitter. I have bought 3 knitting rings in plastic and I knit caps and scarfs on them. I have only had them for a very short time but it's so funny to knit this way and the needlework grows incredible fast. But I also knit and crochet in normal way. So you see!! I'm busy!!
I forgot something!! I call myself:
Lady (Lord) of the knitting-rings!!
I'm a ring-carrier!! | |

| My goodness Vigs, it certainly sounds as though you have been keeping yourself busy, and as though you and your friends are doing a lot of good work. I really admire what you are doing. It is wonderful! I am glad too that you have found a group of friends who enjoy to share their talents and friendship. | |

| I love to be in "Rokken". I make my needlework as fast as I can because I'm not a fast/quick knitter. Some of the other women knit a pair of socs or make a bib in one day. Even the small things take long time for me to make. Thanks, Jen, for telling me my writing mistakes. In Danish we have only one word for both recipe and pattern: "opskrift" and we use it both for recipes for food, cakes, drinks and as "pattern" for something to knit or crochet (or sew). So when I write to knit from a "recipe" I of course mean to knit from a "pattern". You should see some of the shawls the other women knit. They are called names like "Peacock eyes". They are so very fine and nice. But the patterns to them seems very complicated. I can't find out how to knit such complicated things after a diagram/chart. I'm knitting a shawl for my mother to her birthday but from an easy pattern. All the patterns with holes, increases here and decreases there they are too diffiult for me to find out. The "Quick knit rings" are invented in USA so some of you must know them too.

| Yes! I knit as much as I can these days. I'm sure we "Rokken.dk" (The spinning wheel) might win in points over the Norwegian needlework site to make as many socks, scarves, mittens and caps etc. because we are more women to knit, crochet and sew for homeless persons than they have in the Norwegian site. One of the women posted 23 crochetted caps today. | |

| I'm looking so much forward till tomorrow and Sunday! I'm going to a weekend course in brick- and bandweaving at the place where I go to weave (the rug for instance). Our teacher has found a guest teacher/instructor who an teach us to weave on bricklooms and bandlooms. I will be very exciting!! | |

| I wonder why I have never posted some pics of my needlework in here. I'll see what I can find of pics and post them here. This little bag I made and gave to Viggo in October 2008 when I talked to him in Roskilde. That was when he gave autographes to everybody. I have never seen him use it. I made one for myself many years ago. I use it for my cell phone: I'll post more later. | |
